What women entrepreneurs really want when they first start thinking about creating their own business is this…
A New Life!
The yearning for a new life may be the result of entering a new chapter or new phase in their own life.
On the other hand, the desire for a new life may be fueled by the intention to give their children opportunities that they never had.
Often they want to start their own entrepreneurial journey because they want their partner to have a new life too.
Regardless of the reason, this is what it is all about…the desire for a New Life!
But more often than not, little thought is given to expanding on exactly what that new life looks and feels like. They are too busy thinking about the new business and fail to create a detailed, vivid picture of the life that they really want.
There are several reasons why this is a BIG mistake!
Reason #1: Buzz & Fizz!
Without a crystal clear vision of where we are going, how will we know when we have arrived?
How will we be able to create a timeline and goals along the way, if we don’t know the destination?
If we are not striving for a vision that fills us with excitement and longing for its achievement, we lack motivation, energy, the ‘buzz’!
And finally, without the stepping stones and ultimate goals for our new life, we miss out on all the little and big celebrations we could have had as we reach and exceed our goals and expectations!
Reason #2: Dreams, Beliefs & Values
All women entrepreneurs must have a passion for the business they create (that’s another story!). After all, it is going to play a central role in their lives for many years to come!
That said, the business is a vehicle; it is one of the means through which a woman entrepreneur creates her New Life.
Hence, it must be compatible with the dreams, values and beliefs that she holds dear and aspires to achieve and uphold.
This is yet another reason why we need to invest the time needed to explore how these aspects will be incorporated into our New Life and then embedded within the business we are creating.
Reason #3: Life, Work In Sync!
One of the biggest challenges for us women entrepreneurs is to get our ‘life’ and our ‘business’ in sync.
We want our business to work in with our desired new life and lifestyle.
So it is essential to know what the life that is perfect for us looks like, so we can plan and work on building a business that is a perfect fit.
This will not happen in the initial building phase. Nevertheless, we must plan for the two to gradually come together, so that our business facilitates and compliments the life that we women entrepreneurs really want for ourselves and our loved ones.
How can we do this if we have not visualized from the outset what that New Life looks and feels like?
However, when we do take the time and put in the effort to create a vivid picture of our new life, living it in our mind’s eye, our journey is filled with excitement and celebrations of landmark achievements!
The creative process itself gives us an enormous buzz and adds ‘zing’ to everything we do, every little step that we take. This is because we know that we are on the path to making our vision a reality in the real world.
We have purpose, we have direction and we have focus!
All our achievements, big and small, take us one step closer to our life-by-design!

Women should keep a clear vision of what they want. Like any goal, you should be certain of what you want so that you may achieve it.
